THROUGHOUT HISTORY: A WELL-PRESERVED HERITAGE

La Roquebrou Village LA ROQUEBROU
Straddling the border between the Quercy and the Limousin, La Roquebrou is an old medieval town built at the foot of a feudal castle at the entrance to the Cere Gorges. Interesting streets such as Damont, Négrerieu, Tanneurs, Sabathier, Frugière, Barrière, which suggest the trades practiced in the village in former times (cobblers, weavers, tanners, etc). The chateau was built in 981 and originally had 2 wings and 7 towers. One of the towers still has a superb spiral staircase and a few rooms with remarkable Renaissance fireplaces. From the esplanade, enjoy the panoramic view.

What to look for as you wander through the streets:

The Town Hall, the statue of the Virgin Mary, the bridge over the River Cère facing the impressive Gothic-style church, interesting streets such as Damont, Négrerieu, Tanneurs, Sabathier, Frugière, Barrière, which suggest the trades practiced in the village in former times (cobblers, weavers, tanners, etc.).
